General Information

This QCD workshop offers hands-on exercises on various topics. They include a quick look to open data from the CMS experiment and using them in machine learning, sessions on event generators such as Pythia and Sherpa, and some practical work on research software tools. On the second week of the school, there will be hackathon-style sessions during which participants can work on topics of their choice, e.g. using CMS open data.

Who: These hands-on sessions are primarily aimed at the participants of the Midsummer QCD school.

When: Jun 24 - Jul 6, 2024.

Requirements: Participants must bring a laptop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. Specific software packages will be installed during the first hands-on sessions.
